Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world - Nelson Mandela

My first full-time teaching position was as a volunteer middle school teacher in Nambia, Southern Africa. This was right about the time that the shackles of Apartheid had been lifted in South Africa and one of my heros, Nelson Mandela achieved what for many believed was impossible, a black man, a former political prisoner, became president.

Mandela has said many memorable things but there are three quote that best describe why people become teachers, the power to transform through teaching and the satisfaction in not taking the easy path.

There is no passion to be found in playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.

It always seems impossible until it is done.

How to Support the CSC Cause

As an initial part of his learning Felipe and I will be actively contacting potential donors and supporters. Our goal is to receive support from bicycle and camping equipment, support equipment, and Apple computers to help us outfit the expedition. Our objective is to raise $60,000 to the Smart Kids Don’t Do Drugs Society through private donations, public speaking fees along the route and corporate support.

Arrange a Presentation at Your School or Club

During our journey we will make presentations to middle and high school students throughout the route, using our adventure, my years of teaching experience and public speaking and  most of all our first hand experience with the most senester aspects of drugs as well as the wealth of alternative activities for young people to encourage youth to choose life, adventure, nature and health over drugs.

If you would like to have a presentation at your school, club, community centre or other venue where the message of a clean-healthy and fitness oriented lifestyle will reach a worthy audience please contact CSCPanamerica to arrange a visit.

A complete list of locations visited on the journey will be posted as the route develops.
